This concrete Bannockburn home was completed by local architectural building team Tony Quirk Builders who exclusively chooses Design Windows for these architectural homes.
A Wanaka architect now practicing in Spain worked remotely with all involved to develop this concrete home set in old tailings at Black Quail Vineyard in Bannockburn. Award winning architect Bergendy Cook liaised directly with Design Windows and APL to achieve exact details on this superbly detailed home; with every head, jamb and sill having its own detail drawn and reviewed between our office and Bergundy in Spain. As you can see the, this dedication to the intricacies of this project has been rewarded in the stunning result and all those involved could not be happier.
With all windows 3.0m high and in a “very high” wind zone, APL Architectural suite was chosen to meet both the design and wind load requirements. The surrounding panoramic views called for large expanses of glass throughout. Upgrading to Metro Low E Max double glazing to maximise heat retention was a simple decision. Thermally broken skylights also assist in bringing in more natural light.
Every detail of the environment is important and is captured and framed by our windows. Indoor—outdoor flow is complemented by the all the aluminium joinery being flush into the finished concrete floors. The corner feature with the open sliding doors, recede into a wall cavity when open. In this stunning home everything has been considered, including settling into the environment with a green living roof to blend in with its surrounds.
