The owner of this home has a passion for art and sculpture, which has been used as the inspiration for this build. Imitating a large sculpture itself, this home sits on the cliff tops overlooking the iconic St Clair Beach in Dunedin. The windows and doors designed to make the most of the expansive views.
Bell and Co Architecture worked hard on the design of this stunning home. The Metro ThermalHeart windows and doors were designed to achieve the large spans which reach into the territory of a light commercial product. This suite enables the use of the heavy weight high performance Low-E double glazing, and allows access to the multiple roof terrace areas. Double thickness exterior walls are also used to provide high levels of insulation and embedded heating running off a heat pump keeps this home warm and cosy.
The bold styling of this home hides the complexity of the build by W Hamilton Building Ltd. All items seamlessly meeting with both the floor and ceilings. Not only did the joinery need to line up on the inside, but it also needed to align with the impressive façade on the outside of the building. The indoor swimming pool features glazed wrapping and a large floor to ceiling window to include a view to the outdoors.
Large expansive windows allow stunning views across the city, harbour, peninsula and ocean in this sculpturesque home. The aesthetically pleasing exterior of the home balances the interior décor chosen by the owner. Carefully designed architecture complements the thermal performance of the windows to ensure that the home has a high level of insulation.
