Alexandra Community House is the fruition of a community project driven by locals who raised funds over a two year period. The majority of contractors were local including Design Windows Central Otago.
Parker Warburton Team Architects have achieved a real local architectural landscape, working closely with Design Windows we were able to achieve an excellent result within budget.
The centre has over 60 rooms and houses all types of local organisations. It is an eye catching building in the centre of town with full height joinery maximising natural light for the interior. This meant a lot of aluminium joinery with 20 doors and 69 windows. All doors had fully recessed sills to allow for easy access, while the high windows were motorised for opening and closing. The joinery colour is Matt Ironsand to contrast the exterior of wood and stone.
