Greymouth New World, a popular local supermarket, underwent a significant transformation, marking its most extensive renovation since 2005. The comprehensive upgrade showcases state-of-the-art features aimed at enhancing the shopping experience for its customers. One of the notable improvements is the implementation of environmentally friendly CO2 refrigeration throughout the store, aligning with modern sustainability practices.
In addition to the eco-friendly refrigeration system, the renovation includes a range of enhancements designed to streamline operations and elevate customer satisfaction. Brand new checkouts, customer service counters, and Lotto areas have been strategically integrated, ensuring efficiency and convenience at every turn. The introduction of a double entrance and expanded dual car parking areas reflects a commitment to accessibility and ease of access for shoppers.
Collaborating closely with local builder Evan Jones Construction, the Design Windows West Coast team along with many other local tradesmen brought the new space to life. This resulted in the installation of new windows, hinged doors, and automatic sliding doors, further enhancing the functionality and aesthetic appeal of the supermarket.
Victoria Boyes, a third-generation grocer and the store’s owner operator for the past 25 years, says the road to refurbishment has been challenging as well as immensely rewarding.
The new foyer is a particular highlight and now leads directly to the fresh produce section, creating an inviting ambience as customers step into the store. The introduction of new windows allows natural light to flood into the store. “The refurbishment is visually stunning, but it’s the little touches you don’t see that are equally as significant,” she says.
It was a pleasure to be involved in this local project.
