Southern Cross Central Lakes Hospital challenges the norm when it comes to status quo hospital facilities. Tastefully incorporating its surroundings and providing an architectural outcome that utilises materials that fit well within the landscape. Designed by Warren and Mahoney, the Southern Cross Hospital provides a sanctuary for post-surgery recovery. The windows and doors providing a view to the outside world as an extension of the indoor décor.
Design Windows Central Otago were engaged early in the design process to offer the best solutions for this facility. The main hospital wards, bedrooms and theatres have APL Metro Thermal suite with Low-E glazing and Argon gas. All items have aluminium reveals to keep hygiene standards high and airtight.
The main entrance, reception and waiting areas feature APL 150 Seismic Flush Glaze System, with Low-E glazing and Argon gas. The entry doors are automatic with high level automated ventilation sashes to the waiting entry area. The colour Dulux Metro Coal Dust was chosen to blend into the natural contrite and cedar.
