WGANZ Awards 2024 WINNER (Design Awards - Residential - Rotorua, Taupo, Manawatu, Wellington, Westland)
Located at the pinnacle of the sought-after lifestyle subdivision "Tasman View" in Greymouth, this perfectly positioned home savours views that stretch across not only the Tasman Sea but also the length of the West Coast of the South Island.
Designed by the talented architect David Gunter who was himself a past resident of Tasman View Road had an appreciation of the incredible views that homes in this location have. This home is located in a very unique spot on the spur of a hill with almost 360 degree views, the sea at the font and the natural West Coast bush at the rear. David said “The home owners brief was to have a sunny home that allowed for maximised views but still allowed protection from the sea breeze.” “The home was designed to allow for the living areas to have morning and afternoon sun but also have sheltered areas from the south westerly sea breezes that blow in off the Tasman sea. The living areas and bedrooms have panoramic ocean views, enhanced by the expansive glazing throughout the house. Cost is always an important factor and due to the area being exposed to high wind the bracing required had to be balanced with the need to maximise window space.” “I feel that balance of windows and doors placed throughout the house compliments the requirements that allow for maximised views but still maintain a practical solution for the structural components for bracing within the home.”
We can all agree here the end result is a beautiful home with stunning views and very happy home owners—a dream result for all involved in the project.
